The second floor of the Hufflepuff Common Room in Hogwarts Legacy is blocked to male characters unless players utilize a special trick to get up them.
The Hufflepuff House in Hogwarts Legacy has an interesting limitation in its Common Room, where the girl’s dormitory becomes locked to players who selected a male protagonist unless they find a trick that helps them traverse the stairs leading to this section. The magically infused stairs will ordinarily transform into a slide that pushes players with the mentioned restriction down to the first floor of the dormitory, impeding their progress no matter how fast they try to move upward.
Choosing a character that identifies as male may temporarily set players back, but a video posted on TikTok by user Callum Taylor shows a way to use the side banister to trick the Hufflepuff stairs into reappearing after a short duration. According to the original post, moving onto the stairs quickly triggers the slide transformation, but a player’s character can maneuver onto the railing on the side to avoid the shifting steps entirely. Simply waiting for the slide to turn back into a set of stairs gives players enough time to traverse the “secret” section of the Hufflepuff house in Hogwarts Legacy fully, should they be patient enough to master the timing needed to reach the girl’s dormitory safely.
Are There Any Rewards For Going Up the Hufflepuff Stairs in Hogwarts Legacy?
Unfortunately, there are no major rewards for traveling up the Hufflepuff stairs, as the limitation would easily be overcome if players chose to play as a character identifying as a girl. While several players commented on the original TikTok by Callum Taylor with the assumption that the second floor of the common space was restricted for a main story quest later on, the actual reasoning is far easier to understand. Players have identified that this specific area within the common space has far more interesting decorations than many of the other house common rooms in Hogwarts Legacyso revealing a secret set of appealing visuals may be the best earnings possible.
The House Chest belonging to the Hufflepuff House thankfully rests below these stairs, meaning players do not have to exploit this glitch to reach a significant source of legendary items. The revelation of this bug in the game originally garnered around 88 thousand likes and over 600 comments, some comparing the forbidden exploration as an action more akin to a student of the Slytherin house. However, players should attempt to get up the Hufflepuff house stairs in Hogwarts Legacy soon, as there remains a likely chance that this method will be removed in a future patch.
